"The Mediterranean as it once was" reads the caption of an advertising campaign by the Croatian Tourist Board. Unbeknownst to many as a vacation destination, yet becoming increasingly popular amongst those in the know, Croatia offers a combination of sights, culture, scenery and gastronomic pleasures second to none. Shaped like a boomerang on the map, Croatia is nestled between the sea, the Dinaric Mountains and Central Europe, on the eastern shores of the Adriatic, and as such part of the Mediterranean region. There are two distinctive and very different regions that make up the country: the northern Slavonian plains, home to the cosmopolitan capital Zagreb and similar to its northern neighbor Austria in landscape and appearance; then Dalmatia, the coastal area ranging from the Italian border and the Istrian peninsula all the way down to Dubrovnik, the Pearl of the Adriatic. An integral part of Dalmatia are the over 1000 islands, best experienced by private sailing yacht.

Numerous surprises await the unexcpected traveler in this former Yugoslav republic; my favorite recommendations include the Sea Organ in the coastal town of Zadar (indeed a musical instrument installation translating the motion and waves of the sea into audible sounds), the Istrian peninsula famous for its white truffles, the vineyards of Peljesac and Korcula, as well as the historic center of Split, a UNESCO World Heritage site. History buffs will interestingly note the early Croatian civilization introduced by King Tomislav in 925 A.D., along with the development of the Glagolica script, an early Slavic alphabet and predecessor to the modern Cyrillic letter system.

Luxury accommodation in Croatia is among the best in the region: the legendary Esplanade Hotel in Zagreb, built in 1925 for the passengers of the Orient Express; the Meridien Lav Resort in Split featuring one of the best spas in Europe; Dubrovnik Palace Hotel, perched on a cliff above the azure waters of the Adriatic and often host to al-fresco concerts and opera performances, to name a few.

Komar Aviation Group will be delighted to fly you and your family into and out of one of the numerous airports throughout the country: Zagreb, Split, Zadar, Dubrovnik, and even to Tivat or Podgorica in Montenegro, Croatia's southerly neighbor. Leave it to our destination experts who will gladly arrange accommodation, sightseeing, ground transportation and even a private yacht for you to make your vacation a once-in-a-lifetime experience! <![CDATA[Private Jet Charter: How It Works]]> https://www.komaraviation.com/index.php/blog/entry/private-jet-charter-how-it-works https://www.komaraviation.com/index.php/blog/entry/private-jet-charter-how-it-works#When:23:14:41Z Here at Komar Aviation Group's offices at John Wayne Airport, we often receive phone calls and e-mails from interested customers asking how exactly to go about booking a private jet charter for themselves, their family, or their boss.

Admittedly, the perspective of chartering a corporate airplane for your travel needs may be daunting at first, but really there is not much to it at all. Here is a little step-by-step guide to ensure your most comfortable and cost-effective solution:

 1. Determine your needs and requirements: where to and where from do you want to travel, when should the trip happen, how many passengers will go, and are you flexible at all in terms of departure or destination airports, and schedules. Please keep in mind that on longer routes, operational or fuel stops may be required.
 2. Call or e-mail our charter department with this information (949-250-1359, [email protected]); depending on fleet availability, our experts may offer you one or more aircraft to choose from for your selected route. We usually don't have a price for you immediately, but will get back to you within an hour or so with details.
 3. Once you like a proposal, make sure to sign and return the proposal to us immediately to reserve your trip; this will require a credit card authorization, but you may wire the funds and we will remove the hold on your card.
 4. Now it's time to let us know your fellow passengers' full passport names, as well as any catering requirements and additional services (e.g., ground transportation) you may need.
 5. We will send you a comprehensive trip sheet, including all details pertaining to your flight. All you have to do is show up at the departure airport's Executive Terminal or FBO (Fixed Base Operator) specified in your tripsheet a few minutes prior to your scheduled departure, and our pilots will welcome you personally, show you to your airplane and make sure you are comfortable and ready to enjoy the ride!

As you can see, chartering your own private jet is easy and hassle-free! Remember: when air travel needs to be on your own terms, there is no better solution than Komar Aviation Group's charter department.

Call or e-mail us today so we may show you Excellence in Private Jet Charter!

<![CDATA[Featured Destination: Istanbul, Turkey]]> https://www.komaraviation.com/index.php/blog/entry/featured-destination-istanbul-turkey https://www.komaraviation.com/index.php/blog/entry/featured-destination-istanbul-turkey#When:23:14:52Z

Situated on the mighty Bosphorus Strait and straddling Europe and Asia lies one of the most magnifcent cities in the world: Istanbul. Once known as Byzantium (named after the alleged founder of the city, King Byzas of the ancient Greek city-state Megara), then called Constantinople until the end of the famed Ottoman Empire in the early 20th century, Istanbul nowadays is a bustling metropolis of approximately 12 million people and is regarded by many as the gateway to the Orient.

During the day, the interested visitor may admire one of the numerous magificent mosques and churches, or enjoy the most unique shopping experience in the Grand Bazar, or the smaller (but by no means less fascinating) Egyptian or Spice Market. Tired of walking? Why not visit a genuine Turkish Bath ("Hamam"), many of which are located right in the Old Town (known as Sultanahmed on the city map)!

Istanbul is a paradise for foodies like myself, offering a wide range of possibilities from Simit (Turkish bagels) purveyed oven-fresh from carts in the street, to the ubiquitous Döner stands and an amazing selection of fine and top-class restaurants at the other end of the spectrum. My personal favorites include the Pudding Shop, a great lunch place right in the heart of Sultanahmed (Divanyolu Caddesi No:6), and, for a truly memorable fine dining experience, Beyti Restaurant, near Istanbul's Atatürk International Airport (Şenlikköy Mh. Orman Sk No:8, Bakırköy). Still not sure where to go? Venture out into the narrow streets flanking Istiklal Caddesi, the main pedestrian street, and sample a plethora of small and often amazing local haunts. After a great meal as well as during the day, energize with a Turkish tea ("Çay") served in a typical tea glass with a cube of sugar on the side.

As far as Turkish hospitality is concerned, Four Seasons operates two phenomenal hotels in the city; further deluxe accommodation options include the Kempinski at Ciragan Palace, as well as the Ritz-Carlton overlooking the Bosphorus.

Komar Aviation Group will gladly arrange your private jet to and from Istanbul and beyond in the event you got a taste for the Orient and want to explore the Middle East with its amazing history, monuments and people in further depth; we also take care of all your local arrangements including accommodation, ground transportation, and private sightseeing. Please e-mail us at [email protected], or call +1-949-250-1359 to speak with one of our destination experts!

<![CDATA[Featured Destination: Vienna, Austria]]> https://www.komaraviation.com/index.php/blog/entry/featured-destination-vienna-austria https://www.komaraviation.com/index.php/blog/entry/featured-destination-vienna-austria#When:19:04:28Z

In the heart of Europe, and on the crossroads between East and West, North and South, lies the former Habsburg capital of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, Vienna. Renowned for its rich cultural heritage, music, architecture and style, Vienna combines centuries of ratcheting history with the charm of Old Europe and the dynamic atmosphere of modern Austria. Vienna is the seat of the U.N., OPEC, and many other multinational organizations due to its strategic position on the threshold of Eastern Europe.

One can not walk through the center of the city without encountering music one way or another: the formidable State Opera House, famous for never playing the same production any two nights in a row, overlooks the Ringstrasse Boulevard; behind the Musikverein music hall's unique sienna and ocre-colored facade lies the home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and its Golden Hall hosts the annual New Year's Concert; all over town countless churches and open-air venues beckon the visitor to rest and listen in. Numerous noteworthy musicians including Mozart, Beethoven and Strauss left their undisputed mark on the city, and a stroll through the historic center will reveal their heritage to the interested visitor.

Springtime is my favorite time in Vienna: all the chestnut and linden trees are in full blossom (Vienna's city center counts more than 800 parks and gardens!), and the restaurants, cafes and "Heurigen" (local wine producers offering their latest vintage along with home-made breads, meats, cheeses and pastries) invitingly move their tables outside. The capital's famed coffee houses look back at a rich tradition as the predecessors of the internet and social media as networking platforms and "think tanks", and still frequented by many locals following the footsteps of Dr. Sigmund Freud and his contemporaries. A real Viennese "Kaffeehaus" may have more than 100 different types of coffee on offer, along with a wide selection of local and international newspapers. The tuxedo-and-bowtie-clad waiter will bring and refill your water glass served with your coffee, and supply playing cards and even playing buddies if requested.

Looking for deluxe accommodation in Vienna, the traveler has many choices including the classy Bristol and Imperial Hotels, both located in former palaces along the Ringstrasse Boulevard. Alternatively, the recently adapted and intimate Hotel Coburg, former residence of the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha dynasty, beckons with 35 luxury suites satisfying the most discerning guest. Newest addition to Viennas hotel scape is the Kempinski Hansen Palace, also on the Ringstrasse.

We at Komar Aviation will be happy to fly you to Vienna in style on one of our fine aircraft; leave the organization of your accommodation, sightseeing, event planning, and VIP access to concerts or opera performances to us. We will also arrange your private shopping excursions and fine dining to create memories of Vienna to last a lifetime! For more information, contact us today at [email protected], or phone 949-250-1359.

<![CDATA[Time is Money—Aircraft Charter is the “Ultimate Business Tool”]]> https://www.komaraviation.com/index.php/blog/entry/time-is-money-aircraft-charter-is-the-ultimate-business-tool https://www.komaraviation.com/index.php/blog/entry/time-is-money-aircraft-charter-is-the-ultimate-business-tool#When:20:41:49Z

Maximizing time and productivity, it’s the mantra of every successful business. “Time is money," and in an era of downsizing and increased workloads, never has this motto been stressed so severely. Our clients know that the "ultimate business tool" for an active company is Aircraft Charter, do you?

Just like any cost of business, travel is a subject that should be addressed and executed properly -- often overlooked, with the idea of chartering an aircraft being shelved in favor for cumbersome commercial flights. Is this truly the most cost efficient business move?

“Many times when companies make cost comparisons between traveling on commercial airlines and chartering, they are diverted from the real economic value of business accomplished,” Dori Abouzeid, our company CEO once told Orange County Living magazine.

Never has "time is money" rang more true than when opting to charter an aircraft. Consider the time wasted on a commercial flight when you encounter long security lines, connecting flights with layovers, driving to the final destination and the possibility of lost luggage. Add all that to the loss of employee's performance when they arrive at their destinations exhausted and stressed.

Consider the flip side. Only with flying on a private jet can you make a morning meeting in San Francisco, an afternoon sales meeting in Seattle, and make it home in time to see your kid's basketball game.

Commercial flyers become accustomed to burdensome "airport-to-airport" type service, while chartering provides a next level "door-to-door" service.

What is "door-to-door"?

It's the idea of no delays -- because private jets land close to final destinations and ground transportation is already organized. It's the idea of eliminating connecting flights because they fly into over 5,000 smaller airports; 10-times the number of locations that serve commercial airliners. It's the idea of faster, smoother flights due to a private jet's capabilities of flying above the weather. Oh yeah, and you'll never lose your luggage again.

Your Komar Aviation Group representative will make sure the second you step out of your front door on the day of your flight, your itinerary is taken care of. Concierge service is included to handle the arrangement of any rental cars, limousine service, hotel and dinner reservations and onside conference facilities.

All costs considered, private charter often finds itself being less expensive due to efficient, shorter itineraries, minimizing "on-the-road" expenses such as meals, hotels, car rental, etc.

If "time is money" to you, your company and your family, don't spend another day without the efficiency of chartering an aircraft. It will be the best "business tool" you ever invested in.

<![CDATA[Komar Aviation Group—8 Years ARG/US Platinum]]> https://www.komaraviation.com/index.php/blog/entry/komar-aviation-group-gets-arg-us-platinum-rating-for-8-straight-years https://www.komaraviation.com/index.php/blog/entry/komar-aviation-group-gets-arg-us-platinum-rating-for-8-straight-years#When:00:40:42Z Last week we spoke about Komar Aviation Group’s IS-BAO certification, a regular 3rd party objective auditing program that scrutinizes every facet of our aviation operation. Along with our IS-BAO certification, we are also among a select few operators who are rated PLATINUM by independent safety auditors ARG/US -- the highest safety rating achievable in civil aviation.

The Platinum rating is ARG/US’ highest level of safety ratings and is awarded only to those air charter operators who have demonstrated successful implementation of industry best safety practices. Considering the ARG/US Platinum rating is widely recognized as the ultimate acknowledgement of excellence in private aviation, it’s important for us to relay what they think of us. We’ve held the ARG/US Platinum rating for 8 straight years, putting us in an elite group of only 107 operators worldwide who share the same distinction:

Whether we’re chartering your family across country in style, or our aircraft management team is making sure your corporate jet is earning you money while not being used, our highest priority, company-wide, is safety.

“Excellence” is what we strive for, it’s what we are guided by, and it’s what we provide our customers. We can repeat it a million times, but we’ll let the ARG/US rating speak for us this time:

<![CDATA[Komar Aviation Group is IS-BAO Certified]]> https://www.komaraviation.com/index.php/blog/entry/komar-aviation-group-is-is-bao-certified https://www.komaraviation.com/index.php/blog/entry/komar-aviation-group-is-is-bao-certified#When:23:33:27Z

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then is not an act but a habit." Aristotle inked the phrase back in the 300s BCE and we still abide by it today.

When it comes down to our over 100 years of combined aviation experience, "excellence" isn't just a term we throw around for marketing materials, it's a term we've spent years earning, maintaining and letting permeate throughout the ranks of our company.

As part of this record of excellence, Komar Aviation Group is registered to and audited by the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO). We face regular IS-BAO audits that are regarded as the standard for aviation operations. IS-BAO audits are recognized by both the NBAA and the European Business Aviation Association, built around a Safety Management System (SMS) which helps evaluate and mitigate risk, and continuously improve our practices and procedures. These audits are systematic, objective reviews that scrutinize every facet of our aviation operations.

The comprehensive list of things IS-BAO covers:

 • SMS requirements
 • organization and personnel
 • standard operating procedures
 • training programs
 • flight operations
 • operations in international airspace
 • aircraft equipment requirements
 • aircraft maintenance requirements
 • company operations manial
 • emergency response plan
 • environmental management
 • occupational health and safety
 • transportation of dangerous goods, and security

For more information on the IS-BAO certification and audits, please feel free to visit the ISBAOAudits.com for further literature.
